Green Is The New Black

Green LeafThe McClain Green Initiative

Green businesses operate in ways that solve, rather than cause, environmental problems. Operating a green business is not only good for the environment, but can improve your business's bottom line while conserving resources and reducing waste. McClain has chosen to take all steps within reach to ensure that our workplace results in the smallest carbon footprint possible. We have adopted principles, policies, and practices that improve the quality of life for our clients, employees, communities, and the environment. When considering green efforts, recycling is the first thing that comes to mind when we think of providing an environmentally friendly workspace. McClain has embraced recycling as a standard practice as well as taking steps towards reducing waste in our offices and business operations.

What We Have Done

When designing the build-out of our new headquarters at 75 Washington Avenue we worked closely with our contractor from start to finish to use sustainable building supplies, recycled products and eco-friendly furnishings while creating an overall modern environmentally-conscious design. One common misconception is that you have to settle or sacrifice good design in order to be green. We found that this was not the case.

Hall BuildoutIn designing our interior space, we searched for high-end sophisticated design that was also environmentally friendly. We used recycled wheat board cabinets, bamboo flooring, no VOC paints, low voltage lighting, refurbished furniture, energy efficient HVAC systems, as well as implemented several state-of-the-art technologies that take advantage of energy usage savings. Technologies include: computer and server hibernation applications, energy star devices, occupancy sensor lighting, digital faxing, digital billing file applications, online project management and print proofing capabilities. We also took advantage of building out the space in such a way to reduce heating cost with lots of windows and glass within the space.

McClain Goes Even Further

McClain has decided to continue our efforts within the agency by replacing all consumables with recycled alternatives. This also includes a robust recycling plan of all foils, plastics, papers, and cardboards. We offer our clients alternatives to conventional methods and we have also made a pledge to only use environmentally friendly vendors as well as offering a wide range of recycled materials to our clients for signage, displays, vinyl’s and print production.

We continue to learn and integrate new green initiatives as we see fit.
